If we live by the Spirit, let us also keep in step with the Spirit. Let us not become conceited, provoking one another, envying one another.
Galatians 5:25-26
Do two walk together
unless they have agreed to do so? Amos 3:3
Keep up with me. Ever gone for a hike with someone who didn’t stay in step with you, or at least traveled in the same direction? As my young family has grown up and my kids became old enough to walk on their own, a simple trip to the store could go in many different directions. Literally and figuratively. One such trip took us to the local sporting good store. As I perused the rows of manly outdoor products, I felt like an accomplished father teaching my kids about sporting goods. And then I turned around, and my youngest was gone.
Fortunately, she had just ducked behind a wall of sleeping bags hung ceiling to floor. The principle here is that keeping in step is key to following. We are never lost to God, but when we wander off, we are the ones who lose sight of him. Staying in step with His Spirit ensures that as He moves, we move. It keeps a man’s focus from wandering off in a dangerous direction. Directions such as conceit and envy are not destinations of the man who is following God; they are found when wanders off.
To ensure correct direction, keep in step with the Good Leader. Pay careful attention to the way He leads. When focused on Him, a man’s potential to wander is far less.
DO THIS TODAY: Pay attention to where God is leading you. Don’t lose your focus and keep in step.
