It is the glory of God to conceal things, but the glory of kings is to search things out. Proverbs 25:2
“Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives, and the one who seeks finds, and to the one who knocks it will be opened. Matthew 7:7-8
It is without fail that when I need a specific tool, I cannot find it. And when I do not need a particular tool, it is most likely in my way. Some of my most common sought out items include things like razor blades, tape measures, and drill bits. I have come to expect that, when engaged in a project, I will have to search for a tool. I tend to look at situations of searching as a waste of my time and a great annoyance. Missing something can feel tragic at best.
A deficit is not necessarily a bad thing. Missing something prompts a search and searching leads to finding. Men who search things out are men who grow spiritually. This is one important layer of the spiritual development of a man. The very process of searching leads to finding. And as you find something, you acquire skill as a result of the process. I like to think of it this way: I am at my best when I am hungry. And when I am hungry, I am motivated. Motivation leads to a great result, especially as it is aimed squarely at growing your faith.
DO THIS TODAY: Ask God to develop hunger in you for Him and His Word.
