LEAD, SACRIFICE & LAY IT DOWN
I am the good shepherd. The good shepherd lays down his life for the sheep. He who is a hired hand and not a shepherd, who does not own the sheep, sees the wolf coming and leaves the sheep and flees, and the wolf snatches them and scatters them. He flees because he is a hired hand and cares nothing for the sheep.
John 10:11-13
There is a big difference between the mindset of an owner and a non-owner. Owners are willing to make great sacrifices for what they take ownership of. If it belongs to you, you have an investment in it. Jesus speaks plainly about this explaining the difference between the hired hand and shepherd. As the Great Shepherd, Jesus demonstrates the mindset of a man who takes ownership. He's willing to lay down His own life for His sheep.
Becoming a man like Jesus requires taking on the same mindset as He did. We are not the Shepherd, but we can follow His example. Paul says it this way in Philippians 2:5 "In your relationships with one another, have the same mindset as Christ Jesus." Men, as you relate to others around you, be like Jesus and take an ownership mentality. Lay down your life by putting someone else's need above your own.
DO THIS TODAY: Find one small way to lay down your life for someone.
