Therefore each of you must put off falsehood and speak truthfully to your neighbor, for we are all members of one body. ‘In your anger do not sin’: do not let the sun go down while you are still angry, and do not give the devil a foothold. Ephesians 4:25-27
A foothold is a secure position from which further advancement can be made. Once established, progress becomes more achievable. Giving the devil a foothold begins a downward spiral of spiritual defeat. Paul warns the church in Ephesus not to allow an opportunity for spiritual distress by letting their anger go unchecked.
The man who confesses Jesus with his mouth and receives Him in his heart is going to find victory in Christ. But keep in mind that does not disallow our opponent from seeking to gain a temporary advantage. Checking your anger is the strategy that prevents a foothold. Letting the day end on an angry note should have no place in the life of God's man. Choose to check your anger and remove a distinct advantage for your opponent.
DO THIS TODAY: Let go of anger by bringing it to God in prayer.
