Live With Integrity
"A dishonest man spreads strife, and a whisperer separates close friends."—Proverbs 16:28
My grandmother used to say, "The only thing you can steal from yourself, is your integrity." And she wasn't a forensic accountant; she was a short-order cook almost all her life. And she, like most of us, probably learned the hard way, that when you tell someone, you are going to do something you need to follow through and do it. And while this understood as "keeping your word" in its raw form, it's integrity. What is especially interesting about integrity, is that we, with high frequency rob ourselves of it. Each day and in small quantities, we make withdrawals, which steal trust and lead to friends no longer making deposits. Integrity links to accounting because integrity assumes accountability. Today take account. You are being held accountable, whether you like it or not. Decrease the "spread of strife and whispers" that separate what should be integrated—friends.
DO THIS: Live with integrity.
PRAYER: God, show me where I lack integrity today that's impacting my relationships.
