Coffee might boost a mood and warm a belly, but only Jesus lights a soul on fire.

I've tried to find lasting satisfaction in earning straight A's, extreme sports, being the nice guy, partying, and the like. They all had one thing in common -- ME. It was always about me.

I’ve heard it said that if you’re not hungry for God, you might be full of yourself. That indeed was the case for me. When I got serious about my faith 18 years ago, I said a prayer that went something like this:

“Jesus, I don’t want to be the center of my life anymore. I want you to be the center of my life.”

So began the stripping of my pride, self-righteousness, selfishness, and vanity. For some men, this happens in an instant, but for me, it has been a journey.

Choosing to believe in Jesus can sometimes feel like basic training in the military — you’re stripped of your selfish identity. As time goes by, you begin to find your identity not in yourself, but in sacrificing for your country and your brothers around you.

So it is with Christianity. As I began reading the Bible and going to church regularly, I started finding my identity not in myself, but in Jesus and serving those around me.

It’s not about me. It’s about Him!

DO THIS TODAY: Ask Jesus to become the center of your life.
