You Want Your Name In The Book
Then those who feared the Lord spoke with one another. The Lord paid attention and heard them, and a book of remembrance was written before him of those who feared the Lord and esteemed his name. — Malachi 3:16
So as we read some of the final verses of the book, the debate between God and those who were arguing with him is going to end. But something happens. We discover there is this side conversation that's happening. A group of followers has been listening in, fearing the conclusion of this debate with God. They will stand in contrast with those who have drawn harsh conclusions about God. You see — they have concluded they should revere and fear God. And God turns to them. He listens in. And then, he instructs an angelic scribe to write down who these people were and what they said and did.
This occurrence right here puts the fear of God in me. The thought of God watching, listening, and writing down my name, as well as all the things I do and say, scares me. But it's not just a fear that drives me from God. It's a fear that drives me to him. It drives me to his intelligence, wisdom, power, faithfulness, blessings, answers, and salvation. It resulted in worship and honor of his name, which this group did. They concluded it was time to fear and follow God and not fear the delusions and conclusions of this world.
This year make a choice. Fear God or fear the world. But remember, one choice results in your name being written in an eternal book, and the other does not. One day, God will revisit the names of those who fear him, and when he does, you want your name in that book.

On this my first day in 43 years of not having a job, I choose to fear God and Him only. Praise God!!! From the Oswald Chambers devotion today: “Let the attitude of your life be a continual willingness to “go out” in dependence upon God, and your life will have a sacred and inexpressible charm about it that is very satisfying to Jesus. You must learn to “go out” through your convictions, creeds, or experiences until you come to the point in your faith where there is nothing between yourself and God.” And thank you Brother Vince. Have a blessed year my Brother in Christ!
