Not A Hint
“But among you there must not be even a hint of sexual immorality, or of any kind of impurity, or of greed, because these are improper for God’s holy people.” Ephesians 5:3 (NIV)
There are some lines you should never cross or even come in close proximity to as a man. But the writer here charges, "not even a hint." That's a pretty strong charge. So why is Paul so strong to the Ephesian church? Maybe because he knows that when you get too close to immortality, even moderately close, you end up getting burned. As you know you don't have to touch a flame to be burned, just get close. And those burns scars you. And scars end up dulling your sensitivity to future feeling. Therefore hints of immoralities result in ramifications over time that have a profound impact on relationships and holiness. Today rather than getting close to the flames of immorality, stay far from them. And not just the flame of sexual vulgarity, but also "any kind of impurity."
DO THIS: Be hintless.
PRAYER: God, sometimes I encounter unusual situations in life, work, and relationships. Occasionally these are not edifying or honoring of conduct for followers. In these moments may I stand and flee, to remain hintless.
