Overcome
"I have said these things to you, that in me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation. But take heart; I have overcome the world.”—John 16:33
While you try hard to overcome the tribulations of life, Jesus was clear "you will have" them. Like them or not trials are here to stay, and they come in all shapes and sizes. And while we are ensured to encounter them, commanded to continue, persuaded to persevere—we also have victory over them. But as we experience moments of victory, remember it is "Christ who overcame them."
- He endures tribulations.
- He defeats sin.
- He overcomes the world.
Which means we endure with victory in sight. Yet our celebration is "in Christ"—not self. He is the victor. We enjoy the spoils of his success.
DO THIS: Be an overcomer, enjoy the victory and point to Christ.
PRAYER: God, be glorified in my trials and when you claim victory may I point to the heavens in celebration.
