When You Are Overwhelmed

"When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; and through the rivers, they shall not overwhelm you; when you walk through fire you shall not be burned, and the flame shall not consume you.” Isaiah 43:2

There have been numerous biblical characters that would read Isaiah's words both literally and figuratively. Even in our current day fires rage in the west and storms hammer the east. But just because creation experiences change this doesn't mean that God changes his presence to man. While we'll question God's presence in the fire and the storm, there's no need to be overwhelmed. God's challenge to man is to "walk through" and experience his faithfulness, and he promises that we'll "not be burned, consumed, or overwhelmed."  God's spiritual reality is sometimes in contrast to that which our sight predicts.

DO THIS: Walk through.

PRAYER: God, some days I am not sure I can take one more step. Today I feel weak, hungry, defeated, beaten, bruised, heckled, trashed, cursed and naked. But God I am reminded, your son, Jesus, did the same for me. Give me supernatural strength to endure today.
