Like an icy bucket of water, a loud voice woke me from a dream.
The voice shouted, “The risk of right now.” As I was shocked into consciousness, I then heard a whisper, “Patience in a pushy world”.
The two phrases hit home. My wife and I have been trying for 3.5 years, yet still have no baby.
Everything in me wants to manufacture a miracle. So did our first doctor. Just follow his 11 steps: ultrasounds, tests, medications, IVF and surgeries etc... After $50,000 and checking all the boxes… DING! Out pops a baby??? It felt pushy to me. We ended up finding a new MD that was willing to work within our values and desire to patiently persevere.
Just like the flower in this photo, we could throw miracle-gro on it to make it bloom faster. I could follow the doctors 11 steps and microwave our “miracle”.
But instead of rushing, we are resting in God’s timing. This doesn’t mean we sit back and do nothing, it simply means “slow” instead of “go”. Patiently and prayerfully persevering.
Patience = disciplined attitude. Perseverance = disciplined action.
God makes miracles. God causes things to grow. But we still have to do our part.
“So neither the one who plants nor the one who waters is anything, but only God, who makes things grow.” -1 Corinthians 3:7
DO THIS TODAY: With a disciplined attitue, take action on one thing God is calling you to.
