And he told them a parable to the effect that they ought always to pray and not lose heart. He said, “In a certain city there was a judge who neither feared God nor respected man. And there was a widow in that city who kept coming to him and saying, ‘Give me justice against my adversary.’ For a while he refused, but afterward he said to himself, ‘Though I neither fear God nor respect man, yet because this widow keeps bothering me, I will give her justice, so that she will not beat me down by her continual coming.’”

Luke 18:1-5

I can fully relate this parable above to my experience as a father. Anyone who has children or has been around children knows that they can be rather persistent about their desires. When asked repeatedly, it is hard to do anything besides say yes. The constant request by my child for something good, moves me as a dad to say yes. Jesus connects this behavior of repeated asking to the practice of prayer.

Our relationship with the Father is meant to be uninterrupted and continual. As such, we should assume that God does have something to say about every circumstance we find ourselves in. He wants us to come to Him all the time. Jesus demonstrated this in His prayer life. Paul, in 1 Thessalonians 5:17, teaches that we should "pray continually." Combined with the idea of the unrelenting ask, the man of God should persistently seek God. Jesus is challenging us as men to pray persistently.
