Post Easter
"For thus the LORD said to me:
I will quietly look from my dwelling
like clear heat in sunshine,
like a cloud of dew in the heat of harvest."—Isaiah 18:4
Holy week has come to an end, and Easter 2019 is behind us. In one sense, it's like coming down off a great camp, vacation, or adventure experience. And like many of us, we probably remember the return trip home—it was a bit of a letdown as we reentered everyday life.
Following the intensity of Holy Week, I bet the disciples had much of the same experience. Recalling the passion and embracing the agony of Good Friday. Intense feelings of regret, failure, and sadness on Saturday, with Jesus still in the grave. And then participating in the explosion of joy and restored the belief on Easter morning—Oh, the Glory! Following this emotional week came an ordinary Monday, but in itself it was spectacular. This was because Jesus changed everything when he stepped out of the grave, and nothing was the same since. While today appears to be an ordinary day, it is not. It's a spectacular day redeemed by Jesus—and now the heat of the harvest is here!
DO THIS: Live not in a letdown, but in celebration, for the "cloud of dew in the heat of the harvest" is here.
PRAYER: God, while Easter has come to an end, I pray your harvest will begin. Use me by whatever means possible to accomplish your purposes this week.
