PRAY FOR BOLDNESS

23 On their release, Peter and John went back to their own people and reported all that the chief priests and the elders had said to them. 24 When they heard this, they raised their voices together in prayer to God. “Sovereign Lord,” they said, “you made the heavens and the earth and the sea, and everything in them. 29 Now, Lord, consider their threats and enable your servants to speak your word with great boldness. 30 Stretch out your hand to heal and perform signs and wonders through the name of your holy servant Jesus.” 31 After they prayed, the place where they were meeting was shaken. And they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and spoke the word of God boldly.

Acts 4:23-24, 29-31

Prayer was the disciple's response to challenge. Early in the Church, numerous passionate men were persecuted because of the name of Jesus. Peter and John were among these men. They were treated harshly because of their testimony. It was of greatest importance to speak about what they experienced, no matter the outcome. Prayer was the necessary work that paved the way to courage and success in speaking to others about Christ.

The boldness needed to speak the Word of God is not something a man musters up on his own. It is the kind of boldness that comes from a room-shaking prayer session. At times, testimony about Jesus does require courage to share. God provides the power for His men to speak confidently and prayer is how we ask for that. When lacking the courage to share a testimony about Jesus, ask God. Boldly share the hope found in Christ alone. Spend time praying and let the Spirit of God do His good work.

DO THIS TODAY: Pray for boldness.
