PRAY WITH URGENCY

And he came to the disciples and found them sleeping. And he said to Peter, “So, could you not watch with me one hour? Watch and pray that you may not enter into temptation. The spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak.” Matthew 26:40-41

Have you ever had a hard time feeling motivated to stay in the game? Plenty of men face those moments when its hard to muster the energy or effort to engage with a task, lead in our families, or head to the gym for a workout. There is not a man alive who has not had moments, or long spans, where they have felt unmotivated. Often this is because we do not see the urgency. And this is true at this moment with Jesus and his men. They could just not see what lies around the bend in the hours and minutes that followed. And because of this, they do not understand the call to obedience, diligence, and effort in these final minutes that they would spend with Jesus.

The challenge here is to stay in the game. Peter says it this way: "The end of all things is near. Therefore be alert and of sober mind so that you may pray." Muster the personal motivation and urgency to see that the end is always near and to live like every moment is your last. Today could be your last; there are no guarantees. Make decisions today to live life to its fullest and seize the day.

DO THIS TODAY: Pray with urgency.
