Yet I am not alone, for the Father is with me. I have said these things to you, that in me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation. But take heart; I have overcome the world.” — John 16:32-33

What Jesus preaches here is profound — "I am not alone" and "I have overcome the world."

This is a wonderful example of what we should do. We should rightly preach to our wayward emotions when we come upon the trials and tribulations of this life — "I am not alone."  We might need to say it out loud, like Jesus did here. Keep in mind Jesus is just moments from walking the road to the Cross. And in the shadow of this great tribulation, he is still teaching his disciples and preaching the truth even to himself as an example for us.

But Jesus does not stop here. He preaches another truth that is pointed at a future reality — "I have overcome the world." And don't confuse this with some psychological pregame pump-up speech. This is a statement of divine reality in the future because, unlike players before a big game, Jesus knows that he is going to win.

So, if you are facing a trial or tribulation, right now is the time to preach to your soul. Preach a divine truth based in a future reality. There are two right here:

1. "You are not alone."
2. "He has overcome the world."

ASK THIS:

1. How does the profound declaration "I am not alone" from Jesus in the midst of his imminent suffering on the way to the Cross encourage you to address your own trials and tribulations? In what ways can you apply this truth to your own life, reminding yourself that even in challenging circumstances, you are not alone?

    

2. Consider the significance of Jesus' statement, "I have overcome the world." How does the assurance of Jesus' ultimate victory shape your perspective on the challenges and difficulties you face? How can you lean into this divine reality to find strength, hope, and peace amidst the struggles of life?

DO THIS: Preach divine truth to your soul.

PRAY THIS: Father, in moments of trial and tribulation, I find solace in the truth that I am never alone, for You are with me. With the assurance that Jesus has overcome the world, I draw strength to navigate life's challenges with unwavering faith.
