Prepare for Battle
"Finally, be strong in the Lord and in the strength of his might. Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the schemes of the devil. For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the cosmic powers over this present darkness, against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly places. Therefore take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand firm."—Ephesians 6:10-13
The reality is we are engaged in an ongoing spiritual battle. Paul urges his reader to be strong, understand the nature of the struggle, and take up the necessary weapons. This battle is not physical and therefore requires spiritual weaponry. And God himself provides for us what is needed to withstand the conflict. The Bible also tells us the good news that there is a victor and there is no contest against him—God. But there still is a battle that we must engage. Jude 3:3 says it this way, "I found it necessary to write appealing to you to contend for the faith." Do not be passive in your faith today. Start arming yourself with the truth and take up the "whole armor of God."
DO THIS: Prepare for battle by asking God to give you His strength.
PRAYER: God, sometimes I confess I don't give a full effort. Or I forget about the battle raging around me and therefore forget to engage. Give me strength and sight today for the war, and may I fight as one who has already won.
