Pressure

Then Nebuchadnezzar was filled with fury, and the expression of his face was changed against Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego. He ordered the furnace heated seven times more than it was usually heated.—Daniel 3:19

Some of us know this story well. These three God-fearing men refused to worship King Nebuchadnezzar's false gods and idols. In a rage, he sends for them and orders a public display of force and submission over these negligent subjects. In a public spectacle, he superheats a furnace that exterminates those that dare to approach. The fierceness of his anger is on display for all to see. But King Nebuchadnezzar's plans are foiled. Instead of this moment becoming a display of his power, it's a display of God's. Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego are saved by their faith in a higher power and force to whom they willingly submit. In God's care, they put their faith and future, and as a result, God is glorified, and they are saved.

DO THIS: Trust God with all you have today, and let him save you when you cannot save yourself.

PRAY THIS: God, rescue me, save me, from the furnace of this life.
