Proclamations That Get Men Killed
We will easily read some phrases in God's Word without understanding their explosive impact. The next is one. So remember this letter is from an older man named Paul to Timothy, his "son" in the faith. And at the end of the letter's introduction, he drops in this little poem of sorts that's a declaration of all God has done for him, to him, and with him. And then, right at the end, he makes this declaration:
To the King of the ages, immortal, invisible, the only God, be honor and glory forever and ever. Amen. — 1 Timothy 1:17
This is, without a doubt, a declaration of who God was to Paul. God was the only King and the greatest of all beyond time. Many experts believe that this phrase was an axiom of the early church. Regardless of whether this was true or not, we do know this. It was this saying that would eventually get Paul killed. This little saying right here, the proclamation that God was the King, would lead to his second imprisonment and some of the most significant conflicts in Paul's life — both with the government and the church.Â
Our time is calling for men like Paul. Men who will stand up and speak up for what they believe. Men who are willing to live and die by the convictions they proclaim. But don't confuse this with protesting against the church or the government. That's not what Paul is doing here. He's not living to protest but to proclaim a King who is greater than any other king. And it's this proclamation that costs him his life because it implies he stands for no one and nothing else. And this simple act advanced the gospel message across the empire.
So my question for you today is this. What message has God given you that you need to proclaim that some might mistake as a protest that God can use to advance the gospel message in the world today?
ASK THIS:Â What are you willing to proclaim?
DO THIS:Â Proclaim it.
PRAY THIS:Â God, use the message you gave me to advance the gospel.
PLAY THIS:Â Always Have, Always Will.

Read through the Bible daily with Vince Miller.
There is, was, and always will be ONLY one God, who exists as the Holy Trinity and saves us from our sins, past, present, and future. Thank You God for dying on a cross in the flesh as Jesus, for indwelling in myself and other fellow believers as the Holy Spirit, and for Your perfect timing as the one True God. Amen.
AMEN Paul. HE is the only one that rules, always on the Throne and can never be replaced. Everyone will bow to him someday.
Thank you Vince, I love these daily devotionals.
Loving the study brother. I look forward to waking up each morning and getting into the study. I find that it sets the tone for the day.

As someone who has struggled with addiction to food, sex and porn I know that God is bigger and stronger than any of those. I proclaim that in my weakness and moments of temptation, God who delivered me from that addiction is strong and He will see me through! Praise God for his power and His love!
Thanks Pastor Vince! This verse says it ALL! To God, through the blood of Jesus Christ’s sacrifice, be honor and glory forevermore!
1 Timothy 1:17
In world of lies, God sent his son to be and proclaim the Truth.
