For the Son of God, Jesus Christ, whom we proclaimed among you, Silvanus and Timothy and I, was not Yes and No, but in him it is always Yes. For all the promises of God find their Yes in him. That is why it is through him that we utter our Amen to God for his glory. And it is God who establishes us with you in Christ, and has anointed us, and who has also put his seal on us and given us his Spirit in our hearts as a guarantee. 2 Corinthians 1:19-22

There are numerous promises from God in the Bible. Some scholars have attempted to add up the number of promises made, and the answer always ends up in the thousands! Paul makes a bold claim in the passage above. Every promise, numbering into the thousands, find a “yes” in Jesus. How does a man make sense of that?

Paul claims that God’s promises find their yes in Jesus. Aside from Jesus, none of these would have been fulfilled. God knew that every promise made would see completion in the arrival of Emmanuel, God with us. Through Jesus, we experience the fulfillment of the promises made. Because we know this “yes” in person, we can say Amen. Christmas time is a time to celebrate the fulfillment of every promise made by God. Humbly in a manger laid the culmination of God’s Word. As you being to think about and ready your heart for celebrating tomorrow, praise God for the numerous promises that find their target in Christ. Praise God and declare Amen, meaning “let it be so.”

DO THIS TODAY: Praise God for Jesus and the keeping of His promises.
