Husbands, love your wives, as Christ loved the church and gave himself up for her, that he might sanctify her, having cleansed her by the washing of water with the word.—Ephesians 5:25-26
This love relationship is a sacrificial one. Christ intentionally modeled it. Christ, in his love for the church, gave a sacrificial gift that cost him his life. He made a loving choice out of concern for our purity. If you are a husband or aspire to be one, you are required to do the same. We are called to model selfless love for our wives, and Christ did for his bride—the church. The God-fearing man is bound to go to great lengths in concern for their bride's sanctity. We do this by washing her in the word—the Word of God that we read, speak, and act on regularly.
