“Then David said, "Is there yet anyone left of the house of Saul, that I may show him kindness for Jonathan's sake?" 2 Samuel 9:1

Most of the time you don't normally think about extending a specific act of "kindness." But isn't today a day to break from the norm? David, in memory of his friend Jonathan, desires to show kindness to his family in the same way Jonathan "showed him kindness." As we know, he looks and finds a disabled relative for whom he will care, extend generosity, and nourish as his royal table. Now that is a legacy of kindness. And note, it's not so much what David did to show kindness, but the kind person Jonathan was that continued to impact others long after his death. Today in the memory of Jonathan, be a brother and extend kindness.

PRAYER: God, most of the time I'm a pretty selfish guy. Thinking of my own needs before others. Today may Jonathan's legacy go before me, and show me how I might be more kind to others.
