I'll Show You A Sign

So the Jews said to him, “What sign do you show us for doing these things?” Jesus answered them, “Destroy this temple, and in three days I will raise it up.” The Jews then said, “It has taken forty-six years to build this temple, and will you raise it up in three days?” But he was speaking about the temple of his body. When therefore he was raised from the dead, his disciples remembered that he had said this, and they believed the Scripture and the word that Jesus had spoken. — John 2:18-22

So let's remember what just happened. Jesus drove businesses and their corruption out of the Temple. And some want proof of his authority to do these things. They demand a sign or a miraculous event. So Jesus gives it to them, and they completely miss it. He gives them a sign and a miraculous event. The sign is this: He predicts the future three years to the day. In that spot, three years later, these same people will justify the flogging, sentencing, and crucifixion of Jesus. By their hand, they will destroy "the Temple." And the miracle is this: on the third day, he will be raised from the dead as the Lamb of God, fulfilling the Temple sacrifice, satisfying the system they have corrupted, which introduces the age of the church.

But no one gets it. They miss entirely what Jesus just did. But guess what? Eventually, they will get it. As noted in the text, his disciples finally understood three years later. And you will see this pattern repeated numerous times in John's gospel. Let's face it. There are things God is doing all the time that we miss. Moments that God is doing great things. And we miss them because we are not seeing with spiritual sight.

So today, turn up your spiritual sensitivity. Ask God to give you spiritual insight, and then start looking at situations, people, events, and occurrences from God's perspective. Look for God; I promise he will reveal something great to you.

ASK THIS: Are you ready to see what God wants to show you today?

DO THIS: Look at everything with spiritual sight.

PRAY THIS: God, show me what I have been missing. Give me spiritual sight and insight.

PLAY THIS: Great Things.

God, show me what I have been missing. Give me spiritual sight and insight today and always. Thank you for all you do.
Amen

AMEN! I try to ignore my desires. I try to turn off every feeling and emotion. In eliminating myself I feel as if it will be easier to handle His business. No sin, no shame, no disappointment…. just business. But it has not been going so well. I think what would be more beneficial is if I can look at all things , “situations, events, people, occurrences,” through God’s perspective and retain a little life. The more robotics I try to become the less those around me seem to be able to connect with me. IDK. My thought for the morning. We see what the day brings. Lord give me “kingdom colored glasses”.

Amen, Cory! “When you seek Me with all your heart…you will find Me”

That’s the desire of my heart, to figure out what it really, really means to seek God with all my heart…

Father, in every situation, Your will, NOT my will be done! Matt. 26:42
