For at one time you were darkness, but now you are light in the Lord. Walk as children of light —Ephesians 5:8
"At one time" is a time in the past. It was that time before Christ. We remember those days, but not with fondness. We lived in darkness and thus were defined by the attitudes and actions of this darkness. But that's a past tense identity—we "were" dark and darkness. But no longer! That was one time, but it's a new day. You have a new name and a new identity. You are light, not darkness. You are a child, not a lost son. Be the light in that dark work. When you are light in the Lord, you cannot be overcome by dark and darkness—you expose it.
ASK THIS: Where around you is their darkness that needs some light?
DO THIS: Be the light and reflect the light in this place today.
PRAY THIS: God, you've redeemed me from the darkness. Please help me to forget those old ways and identity and help me to be and live like a light!
