So he said to me, “This is the word of the Lord to Zerubbabel: ‘Not by might nor by power, but by my Spirit,’ says the Lord Almighty.
Zechariah 4:6
Now the Lord is the Spirit, and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom. And we all, who with unveiled faces contemplate the Lord’s glory, are being transformed into his image with ever-increasing glory, which comes from the Lord, who is the Spirit. 2 Corinthians 3:17-18
2 Corinthians 3:17-18
God is the same yesterday, today, and forever. He does not change His plan.
Life brings about many course changes. One year ago, you were a different person. Think back about all of the things that have changed in your life. Changes come with age and with the seasons of life. Not to mention that changes come because life tends more towards disorder than order. God, on the other hand, calls us to Himself, His unchanging self.
Freedom is the direction God is calling His men to move in. Zechariah lived during a time that is much different than the first disciples of Jesus Christ. From those days until now, the direction God is leading has not changed. He moves men to think differently about self and God. Self is not capable, and God is. There is no act of man, might or power, that can accomplish what the Spirit can. What we need for freedom is not anything we can produce ourselves, it comes from the Lord. It is wise to remember that during our daily changing lives, God is entirely dependable. His Spirit is who all men can rely on to find freedom during any moment of any season.
