Stop Looking For A Better King

For to us a child is born, to us a son is given; and the government shall be upon his shoulder, and his name shall be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace. — Isaiah 9:6

So, if you are frustrated with politics, government, and the tide of cultural change in our country and world, then you need to look no further than this verse right here to find the hope you want.

I believe one of the reasons we are so irritated today is that we know deep in our hearts there has to be better. There has to be a leader out there with better discernment. Someone who can lead with justice and perfect power. Someone who will protect us like a father and guide us like his children. Someone who can bring peace, hope, and love to this divided world.

And Isaiah tells us there is an answer. And the answer is going to be provided by the divine. Through a child, nonetheless. It’s not going to be found in a current president, a cunning politician, or a political party. It is a divine problem that needs a divine solution. This is because problems of this weight are too weighty for human governments. They are too much for our shoulders. But a God with great shoulders can bear these issues with ease. It’s so easy he would do it with a child. His son. Jesus.

And get this. Isaiah only anticipated this leader hundreds of years before he lived. But we. We get to celebrate him. The birth of Jesus. He is the ruler we want and seek. We don’t need another. He was born and died and rose again. He lives and is wonderful, mighty, and everlasting, and he is the peace we all seek. But if you want him, if you really want a better leader, then you will have to submit to him.

And you can do that right now. Stop up looking for another. Jesus is the King you need.

ASK THIS: Do you really want another king?

DO THIS: Worship the King who reigns.

PRAY THIS: God, you are the only king I need.

PLAY THIS: King Jesus.
