Stop Spinning God's Message

ENGLISH

So yesterday, we read that Daniel took Belshazzar out to the woodshed. But right now, Daniel will read the writing on the wall. And here's what that hand wrote:

"Then from his presence the hand was sent, and this writing was inscribed. And this is the writing that was inscribed: Mene, Mene, Tekel, and Parsin. This is the interpretation of the matter: Mene, God has numbered the days of your kingdom and brought it to an end; Tekel, you have been weighed in the balances and found wanting; Peres, your kingdom is divided and given to the Medes and Persians." — Daniel 5:24-28

So the message is this. "Your life and your kingdom are toast."

And if you recall, Daniel had a much different demeanor when he approached Nebuchadnezzar with disturbing news. In this case, we don't see that. There isn't a lot of concern about telling Belshazzar this bad news. I think this is because Daniel is much more mature. He's been in this situation before, and he knows that it's not his job to come up with the message. It's not his message at all. It's God's. Daniel's responsibility is to deliver the message, not make it up or find some creative way to deliver it. He's not going to hold back from controversy. He's not going to soften it. He's not going to make it personal. He's not going to get in the middle. This is because he knows it's not between Belteshazzar and Belshazzar — two ordinary men. It's between a king and The King.

Fellas, as things heat up in our world and as culture becomes increasingly secularized, we need to do two things. First, we gotta make sure we are listening to God's truth and not somebody's spin on it. We must search for it, believe it, and adjust our life to it. Like Daniel has for 70 years, we must work out our salvation in challenging times. And second, when given a chance, we gotta make sure that we share God's truth with the world. And as we do, we need to ensure we are not spinning it, softening it, or straying from it. There are plenty of ministries, pastors, and people who do this; all they are doing is getting in the way of what God wants to do. And by the way, you don't want to get in his way.

So I want you to practice doing this today. Adjust your life to God's truth, and share it. If you practice it enough, God might use you to do something like Daniel did here. And God knows we need a few more Daniels in the world today. Men who are adjusted to his message and can be entrusted with his message.

ASK THIS: What adjustment do you need to make to God's truth and then share with the world?

DO THIS: Be a Daniel

PRAY THIS: God, allow me to speak your truth, not mine.

PLAY THIS:  Love You With the Truth.

So many interpretations with scripture reading. How do you stay on point and know you are interpreting Gods word correctly. Small groups?

    • Dennis James says:

      Christopher,
The way I stay on point is I test all things to scripture (I use the New King James Version mostly) . I also try to use small group materials by pastors I have vetted when I use study materials. I rely on the Holy Spirit to guide me.

  2. David Josker says:

God, allow me to stay focused on you and always speak your truth, not mine.
    Amen

Recently had an experience where I expressed my concern to the pastor and elders at my church. I felt something that was done during the worship service one Sunday that was inappropriate. Not much of a response from the pastor or the or elders in response to my concern. My heart is still troubled by this but I’m praying.

I’ve had the same thing consistent since covid. Everyone has a bad day, especially the MN Vikings. Good job on approaching them directly. Great Church friends have left my Church in droves. Pastor said I was the only one who approached he and the elders directly. I wanted to confirm this was the official direction the Church was going. Looking back, I was placed there at a specific time, for a specific reason, to meet specific people. As of last week I’m officially moving on. Kick the dust and on to my next adventure. Be wary of sitting in worship and your mind is constantly looking for nonsense, vs having a heart for learning. That’s what happened to me for the last 18 months. Sitting in service just irked half the time. That’s not worshipping our creator…..

      Mike,
Ask the Holy Spirit for direction in this matter. I would also request another meeting with the pastor and elders and ask for clarification. If they avoid the subject that may be an indication that you need to seek out another church?

  5. Mark says:

I’m reminded this morning of the mission statement of a church I belonged to many years ago. “Speaking the truth in Love”. I no longer want to “soft pedal” God’s truth or not stand up and be bold in sharing His love, His truth, His Gospel! Thanks Vince for the messages in Daniel they are awesome!

  6. Robert Miranda says:

    Wow 🙏 Amen.

Give us boldness n grace n love n discernment to share your precious word with a fallen world, Lord.
