Submission To Authority

For I have come down from heaven, not to do my own will but the will of him who sent me.—John 6:38

Many people don't consider this, but Jesus was submissive to authority, while still being the authority. This is important because many falsely believe that authority is exempt from rules. But even God is subject to specific rules—and there things God cannot do. He cannot sin, and he cannot be untruthful; these are just a couple. But Jesus's submission is not robotic and mechanic; it's willing. He wants to do his Father's will because he trusts his Father. And therefore, when his Father sends him to go—he obeys by going—willingly. Will you willingly submit to His will today?

DO THIS: Submit to God, willingly.

PRAY THIS: God, I confess that my heart rebels against your authority all the time. It may be subtle, but when I don't get my way, my attitudes and responses are out-of-line with your will and in line with my own. At these moments help me to submit to you more frequently.
