Teach It

“Now therefore write this song and teach it to the people of Israel. Put it in their mouths, that this song may be a witness for me against the people of Israel." Deuteronomy 31:19

John Wooden once said, "Everything I've learned, I've learned from someone else." He always had a knack for capturing profound ideas in simple statements that helped others to remember essential truths. Yet this is probably not a new learning for you. Just note God's commands to Moses - "write this" and "teach it" to the people and even "put it in their mouths." God's plan was always to use men like you to impact the world around you through teaching, writing, reciting, and yes sometimes singing so that people will learn about him.

Today as you live, work, and speak how will you convey to others something memorable? Will you talk with words that result in positive impact? Will people be inclined to pass onto others what they hear from you? Is it worth repeating in written form? If not, consider rethinking it. And if so, may it point people to something greater - "a witness for God."

"And whatever you do, in word or deed, do everything in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him." Colossians 3:17

DO THIS: Teach it in your words and deeds.

PRAYER: God, may every word and action that come from my mouth and life be glorifying you and your name today. And when it's not may I seek repentance, and turn toward your grace.
