The Heavens Declare
"The heavens declare the glory of God, and the sky above proclaims his handiwork." —Psalm 19:1
It is incredible that the heavens so readily declare the glory of God, and even the sky follows suit. But what about man, God's most fabulous creation?
I don't know if you are like me, but I am daily swayed to cheat God of his glory. The allure is deceptively insidious. It only takes a sequence of successes or public praise to lure me in. And when this happens, it "slips my mind" that is was God who made me, redeemed me, and gifted me. But again, not for me.
On the other hand, it only takes a personal failure or a litany of losses to hear the screaming voice of self-disqualification, which also robs God's of his glory. In essence, it's just manifesting itself a little differently. So how do the "heavens" and "sky" so readily proclaim God's handiwork? The difference is their radical submission and obedience to God's creative order. This is your challenge and opportunity today. Live in submission and obedience and give God his glory.
DO THIS: Point to God's glory, not your own.
PRAYER: God, forgive me for trying to steal your glory. Let not my successes or failures bait me into robbing what makes You great.
