"For the word of God is living and active, sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing to the division of soul and of spirit, of joints and of marrow, and discerning the thoughts and intentions of the heart."—Hebrews 4:12

While you may think you can hide from God, the text above is clear—there is no hiding from God's penetrating truth. His spoken word is living, active, sharp, and pierces beyond behavior into the private thoughts and deepest intentions of man. This should be comforting if you trust God whose best interest is always in your favor. But it's also terrifying, maybe because you know the intention of your heart is only evil continually. But the good news is the Word of God doesn't exclusively pierce but has profit. A profit of righteousness.

"All Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness." —2 Timothy 3:16

DO THIS: Let the Word of God pierce you and profit you.

PRAYER: God, I am frequently frightened of knowing you and the evil which lies within my own heart. Expose my heart, but develop and redirect it with your Word of Truth.
