The Proof is in the Action
If you are wise and understand God's ways, prove it by living an honorable life, doing good works with the humility that comes from wisdom. — James 3:13
A man is proven by this — good works that come from God's wisdom and humble motives. The evidence of this is always a man's actions done over a lifetime. James, the brother of Jesus, is a champion of this cause in the New Testament. He is a man that encourages action in a man's life but always recommending it's done in the right way and from the right motivation. As the brother of Jesus, James had a front-row seat to what this looked like; Jesus modeled it daily. And now, James urges his readers to daily prove their understanding of God's truth by living it out. So if you have pushed pause on doing good works from humble motive — change it. Take one action today, make it selfless, and do for the benefit of righteousness. And then tomorrow do the same.
DO THIS: Do good works from a place of humility.
PRAY THIS: God, I love you, but I don't always show it. I need you to test and prove my motives. Today allow me to live out your righteous from pure motives so that others will see more of you and less of me.
