The Purge

Purge me with hyssop, and I shall be clean; wash me, and I shall be whiter than snow.—Psalm 51:7

Hyssop is a plant with herbal properties. It's a fragrant antiseptic, expectorant, and a cough reliever all in one. Think of it as Old Testament hand sanitizer!

There are days we want and need cleansing. That's what David, the writer of this Psalm, acknowledges. He recognizes the pungent odor of the smell of his sin. And it's wretched and dirty and impossible for him to wash from his life. But fella's, we all have these days. This is the story of our life—soured by the smell and the filth of our sin. But we can be cleansed and bathed by the hand of God. When washed by God, we are made clean, and purer than the freshly fallen sun touched snow.

DO THIS: Ask God to wash you from the stench and stain of your sin.

PRAY THIS: God, I am stained by the smell of sin. Cleanse me from all unrighteousness.
