The Response
Because, if you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.—Romans 10:9
We are called to confess. When we confess, we are agreeing or acknowledging something verbally. In this case, we are acknowledging that Jesus is Lord. And his lordship is something a follower proudly acknowledges. We are no longer the leader of our life, but now Jesus dictates what we think and what we do. But we must always must believe which is the action of our faith. And we believe in our heart at the deepest level in the most critical event that turned the world right-side-up—that God raised him from the dead. His resurrection is the linchpin to everything because it is proof that God has the power to defeat both types of death—physical death and spiritual death so that we can have spiritual life in Jesus Christ, our Lord.
