The Sweet Taste of Wisdom

ENGLISH

My son, eat honey, for it is good, and the drippings of the honeycomb are sweet to your taste. Know that wisdom is such to your soul; if you find it, there will be a future, and your hope will not be cut off. — Proverbs 24:13-14

I love this one because the author adds a sense of taste which adds a tangible lesson to this proverb. The command is for his son to eat honey. And as we know, honey is potent with sugar. And sugar fires the taste receptor cells on the tip of the tongue, delivering a sugar high. And it is so potent that instant energy is delivered directly to our bodies. We instantly feel this energy because sugar burns quickly in the human body.

But there is a reason he wants his son to eat honey. It's not just to get a sugar high. But the father is hoping that as he eats honey, he will be reminded of how wisdom works. Because wisdom works similarly. It delivers potent energy directly to the soul. Wisdom is an "eye-opening" experience. And sometimes so "eye-opening" that it allows a man to see into the future and therefore see his hope in times of hopelessness.

So the application is this. When you feel hopeless, get a little honey. Eat it and be reminded that wisdom works the same way. It's sweetness for the soul that opens your eyes to the future and delivers the energy to hope again.

PRAY THIS: God, today I need hope. I am asking you for wisdom. I am ready to receive it regardless of how you present it. Help me pay attention today when it comes, and give me hope.

My heart was burdened to pray for you this am. Cling to the One who provides hope and keep the faith. “Let the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be acceptable in your sight, O Lord my Rock and my Redeemer” Psalms 19:14 Think of all the ways God has blessed you, be encouraged, the LORD is with you and will be your source of wisdom nd strength. Blessings

Romans 8:8 For we know that all things work together for good to those that love God, that are called according to His purpose
      Proverbs 3:5-6
Trust the lord with all thine heart, lean not on thy own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge Him and He shall direct thy paths.

I do not know your situation but I will pray for you. If I meditate, not just read bit really ponder, these scriptures above, it helps me to press on at times. Take heart for He that is in you has overcome the world. If there is some way I can specifically pray for you, send me your number/email or something and I will do it for specific for certain.

I know you know Trent, thank you. It’s always hard in the thick of it and it’s been a long time. Doing my best to keep faith in the outcome. His will, not mine.

Those speed bumps can derail you pretty good so focus on the One who can steady your course. I too will offer prayers for you as I have received from fellow brothers at times.
