The Thrown Child
For some reason, I missed the national news this Saturday when a good friend called to tell me a relative, a 5-year-old child, was thrown from a third-floor balcony at the Mall of America in Bloomington, Minnesota. This story is disturbing. As he shared more details on the story there was a whirlwind of emotions, thoughts, and responses I had for the family, perpetrator, but mostly for this young boy, Landon, who was unjustly victimized and is now fighting for life. While I could throw down some verses today, perhaps the best response is to pray. Pray for Landon and his healing and peace. Pray for the parents and family, their emotion, decisions, rest, and clarity. Pray for the physicians and care providers who are giving direction and care. Pray for the mother and father, who are in deep distress. And pray that God's glory will win out in and through this situation at every level.
"Pray without ceasing"—1 Thessalonians 5:17
DO THIS: Pray for Landon.
PRAYER: God, work miracles for Landon, calm a distressed family, be just to the wrongdoer, and resolve a situation that can only be solved by you.
