The Void
Many of your habits fill a void. These habits exist for one purpose to hide, conceal, and camouflage that void from the rest of the world. On some days these habits are so successful at hiding the void that you forget the void is even there—and it's here the pattern becomes a compulsion. You have forgotten about the void because the process and behavior is so satisfying. Some people are brave enough, courageous enough, and motivated enough to look at it, address it, and go to war with the void (as well as the habits and behaviors that go with it). But post-war, don't ignore the power of the void. It will call back to you. It will entice you. Its tactics do not change. The lures of the void are like a heat-seeking missile aimed at your desire.
“When the unclean spirit has gone out of a person, it passes through waterless places seeking rest, and finding none it says, ‘I will return to my house from which I came.’" —Luke 11:24
DO THIS: Go to war with the void. Fill it with godly desires.
PRAYER: God, I will always praise you for my victories, and I will never take them for granted. It is you who both gives victory and fills the void of my life. Fill me today with desires of you and for you— not with the demons of my past.
