The War Is Here

Beloved, I urge you as sojourners and exiles to abstain from the passions of the flesh, which wage war against your soul.—1 Peter 2:11
The war is here, and it’s real. Forces are waging cultural, philosophical, and political wars in our world. But there is another war we are fighting. A war that every man encounters that is far more concerning. It’s the one raging within you, wreaking havoc against your soul. It seeks to hijack your passions by fleshly enticement. It wants to persuade you to become a follower and a citizen of this world by succumbing to your fleshly passions. And we encounter it daily and there is far more is at stake—your soul. But we must not let the doctrine of this battle persuade us because it will entice us to view this place as home. Yet this world is not our home. We are merely sojourners and exiles here. So wage war, O man of God, against the passions of your flesh that would make you subject to this world. Remember, you are a subject, citizen, and servant of the Highest God who has prepared for you a heavenly home.

DO THIS: Fight back. Wage war. Fight for your home!
PRAY THIS: God, give me the virtue and stamina to fight and wage war in the right battle.
