This Is Deep

The purpose in a man's heart is like deep water,
but a man of understanding will draw it out.—Proverbs 20:5

Some somethings are shallow, and other things are deep. The deepest part of every man is not on the outside—it's on the inside. It's not visible, it's invisible. It's the heart of a man, often called the soul or the mind—it's where the desires and intent live within each of us. This part of man is deep. It's this that we need to discover in our self and others to understand each other. And great men understand how to draw this out. They search for the invisible and the unseen in every person they meet. And at the same time, they know that there is one heart, soul, and mind that they should pursue even more than their own—God's!

And [Jesus] said to him, "You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind. This is the great and first commandment.—Matthew 22:27-28

DO THIS: Listen to others and love God.

PRAY THIS: God, help me to listen and understand. Listen to the heart of man, understand, and demonstrate your love to a lost world.
