This Is Salty
Salt is good, but if salt has lost its taste, how shall its saltiness be restored? It is of no use either for the soil or for the manure pile. It is thrown away. He who has ears to hear, let him hear.—Luke 14:34-35
I am a salt lover. I admit I love it, especially on some fresh dipped french fries! But the parallel above is not just about a chemical compound we know as sodium chloride. It's about us. It's about our spiritual usefulness, tastiness, and real value. In other words, if we don't serve a purpose and a good one at that, then we are useless. And the alarming part of the parallel is that when we become useless, we become "good for nothing," as my grandmother used to say. Not even for soil or manure. So be good and salty today! May your words and actions be seasoned with words of Christ.
DO THIS: Be salty.
PRAY THIS: God, may everything I do today be seasoned with you, the words you gave, and the life you lived so that others will know how tasty your life is.
