For this reason I kneel before the Father, from whom every family in heaven and on earth derives its name. I pray that out of his glorious riches he may strengthen you with power through his Spirit in your inner being, so that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith. And I pray that you, being rooted and established in love, may have power, together with all the Lord’s holy people, to grasp how wide and long and high and deep is the love of Christ, and to know this love that surpasses knowledge—that you may be filled to the measure of all the fullness of God. Ephesians 3:14-19
How would you answer someone who asks you the question, “What motivates you?”
Reflect on what it is that you are driven to do. It is the thing you are willing to spend vast amounts of time on. Your resources and your thoughts are funneled in the direction of your most intense motivations. Paul gives us a glimpse into his motivations through his words to the Ephesians. He is both concerned for the recipients of this letter as well as the very truth he feels compelled to share. Men are most faithful to the things that find the highest approval in their heart.
Listen carefully to strong desires of the Apostle Paul. He draws attention the most excellent source to draw strength from. Far from a self-help plan, Paul implores his readers to gain strength through faith. And there is a great value, immeasurable value, in anchoring oneself to Christ. The fullness of God is not unlocked by anything of our doing, it is revealed to mankind through a relationship with the Creator of the universe.
