Rejoice greatly, O daughter of Zion! Shout aloud, O daughter of Jerusalem! Behold, your king is coming to you; righteous and having salvation is he, humble and mounted on a donkey, on a colt, the foal of a donkey. I will cut off the chariot from Ephraim and the war horse from Jerusalem; and the battle bow shall be cut off, and he shall speak peace to the nations; his rule shall be from sea to sea, and from the River to the ends of the earth. As for you also, because of the blood of my covenant with you, I will set your prisoners free from the waterless pit. Zechariah 9:9-11

I remember the first time my team won a championship and the parade that ensued. There was a crowd gathered with anticipation at a fever pitch. Players were lined up in convertibles coming down the city streets dressed with smiles from ear to ear. It was a fantastic triumphant entrance into a city, celebrating what had just transpired. Now imagine that kind of celebration being described before the game was ever played. That is the moment in Zechariah being defined here.

We have the luxury of reading the account of Jesus birth and being confident He came as described above. There is overwhelming evidence that this Jesus is the one being described. He came righteous, bringing salvation with Him. Humble, He did not demand the entrance of one celebrating a championship. His arrival was a victory worth celebrating to no end. As you move throughout your day today, think about celebrating Jesus’ coming. Anticipate His return and act with great joy.

DO THIS TODAY: Take a moment to thank Jesus for coming and express your anticipation of His return.
