Ultimate Seasoning
“Walk in wisdom toward outsiders, making the best use of the time. Let your speech always be gracious, seasoned with salt, so that you may know how you ought to answer each person." Colossians 4:5-6
Well, another day is here. A day for some "walking." To walk is to take slow and thoughtful steps. But notice you're commanded to walk, not aimlessly but in "wisdom." So don't take foolish steps today or run through your day in a continuous hurry. Rather "walk in wisdom" as it's a slow and intentional process that results in the "best use of your time." But the writer adds another point; it's not just walking, but walking and talking. You are commanded to also "season your speech," like you would season a meal. You know it's true - some meals without seasoning are too plain. But food with the right seasoning applied in appropriate amounts to the right elements makes a meal into something to be savored. And so God is honored when our speech is seasoned with "grace." So today, walk and talk thoughtfully and topped with grace and so influence your world for the kingdom.
DO THIS: Walk and talk with grace.
PRAYER: God, help me to slow down and season my life with grace as I encounter people who need your direction. I pray that every person I come in contact with would know you and the grace you have for them.
