The God Of Uncomfortable Seasons

But when Herod died, behold, an angel of the Lord appeared in a dream to Joseph in Egypt, saying, “Rise, take the child and his mother and go to the land of Israel, for those who sought the child’s life are dead.” — Matthew 2:19-20

There is something about the feeling of coming home, isn't there?

The feeling of kicking off your shoes, being with the family you love, and sleeping in your own bed.

And even though the death of Herod marked this moment, I wonder if Joseph and Mary felt some relief at the thought of returning home. It has been three years since Joseph and Mary fled for Jesus's life. They have been strangers in a foreign land. Egypt was not their home — Nazareth was. And notice two communications by an angel bookended this season. The first time an angel told them to run. The second time an angel told them to return. And soon, this season would be done, and they would no longer be refugees but citizens again.

Every believer will have at least one season like this in their life. For some, this season is short. For others, the season is long. For some, it will be many seasons. For others, it will only be one. Regardless, during this time, we undergo an incredible transformation. We experience changes. Then we are tested. And finally, we grow. At the moment, it's uncomfortable because it is not like being home. But regardless, there is one constant. God knows its beginning and end, and Jesus will always be with us through it. But in the case of Joseph and Mary, this was all a little more literal. God marked the beginning and end, and five years old Jesus was right there with them.

So if you are in a season that's a little uncomfortable, then listen and look. God is speaking and is in it because our ever-present God is there. I promise.

I just pray for all you men that opened your heart and shared. I also prayed for needs that are left unspoken. For your families as well
Like some of you I am recovering from porn addiction and it has devastated my family.
I know some of you out there are dealing with cancer and please know I am praying for you.

I have been through many seasons in my lifetime, but this one is the most challenging as I make plans to retire from a career I have had for the last 37 years. I am learning to trust God as I prepare to enter this next chapter of my life.

Trent

I pray you find as much, and more, pleasure and satisfaction in the work He has for you in your retirement. Whatsoever ye do in word or in deed, do all things in the name of the Lord Jesus giving thanks to God and the Father by Him. Colossians 3:17 Blessings to you and through you to others.

Mike

Thank you for your prayers, Trent. I know He has many plans for me in that next chapter of life. I just need to trust Him MORE.
Merry Christmas to you and your family.

Thanks Vince! I needed to hear this. It’s been a tough 8 months and the season ahead doesn’t look any better. But I know God walks right along side of me.

Trent

Amen. Keep fighting!

Chris

This is one of the most uncomfortable times in my life. I’m working while taking graduate classes and my daughter just changed medication and was on suicide watch last week.

Matt

Praying for you Chris! May God be ever present in your life!

Praying for your family, and especially your daughter. Praying that she will find LIFE in Jesus Christ!
“For we are not fighting against flesh and blood enemies, but against evil rulers and authorities of the unseen world, against mighty powers in this dark world, and against evil spirits in the heavenly places.” We know that Jesus has been given ALLL authority, so let’s all call on the Name of Jesus together for Chris’ daughter right now!

Chris

Thank you God Bless

Trent

Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.Mathew 11:28-30
Seek Him first and foremost and I think the rest will get in line. Strength to you.
