Use It or Lose It

“But the master replied, ‘You wicked and lazy servant! If you knew I harvested crops I didn’t plant and gathered crops I didn’t cultivate, why didn’t you deposit my money in the bank? At least I could have gotten some interest on it.’ “Then he ordered, ‘Take the money from this servant, and give it to the one with the ten bags of silver. To those who use well what they are given, even more will be given, and they will have an abundance. But from those who do nothing, even what little they have will be taken away. Matthew 25:26-29

Build momentum in your life in the new year by paying close attention to what the Master Teacher has to say in Matthew 25. This parable begins with a master and three servants. The master was leaving on a long journey, so he called his servants together and entrusted resources to them, each according to his ability. What they did, and didn’t do, laid the foundation for success. In this next new year, this is how to build momentum: use it or lose it.

The first thing you should notice in the story would be that amount of resource and ability are not factored into the win or loss. You should also see that the funds provided didn’t belong to the men who received them. The bottom line is this: how you use what you have should define the win. Far too often men become distracted by the amount or the ability. “I can’t do that because I don’t have enough…” Jesus makes the point that His concern is how you use what is entrusted to you. And yes, every man has something entrusted to him. Make plans to take spiritual action in 2018. Do not let excuses get in the way as all men have means and ability.
