Wait In Hope

Anticipating the hope of God in Christ

For this we declare to you by a word from the Lord, that we who are alive, who are left until the coming of the Lord, will not precede those who have fallen asleep. For the Lord himself will descend from heaven with a cry of command, with the voice of an archangel, and with the sound of the trumpet of God. And the dead in Christ will rise first. Then we who are alive, who are left, will be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air, and so we will always be with the Lord. Therefore encourage one another with these words. 1 Thessalonians 4:15-18

The birth of Jesus is evidence of the trustworthiness of God. And it does not stop there. God’s people longed for the first Advent of Jesus, and now we anticipate the second. It has been declared that Jesus will come a second time and God can be trusted. When Jesus comes back, with Him will be total restoration and the making right of all things.

God provides hints and clues about how and when Jesus will come back. And now we wait, confident that God will do what He said he will do. When He comes again, it will be much different than the first time. There will be no birth or manager like before. He will arrive to rescue and do away with sin and brokenness forever.

All of us must wait in hope.  We live now as it will be someday. As we live out the life of Jesus in a broken world, we demonstrate to all those around us confidence we have in the life to come. Putting sin to death daily and walking as His disciple becomes a reminder to us and those around us of His second return.

DO THIS TODAY: Start thinking about the second coming and celebrate Christmas accordingly.
