We Live In Crazy Times
Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make straight your paths.—Proverbs 3:5-6
I have written devotionals about these two verses so many times before. But I believe these words have incredible meaning today.
Fellas, we live in the craziest time ever—it's unpredictable. Journalism is unpredictable. The market is unpredictable. Disease is unpredictable. Government, politics, and protection are unpredictable. Is this the unfolding? Could this be, as R.E.M. sang, the end of the world as we know it?
So fellas, what are we to do?
Well, we can parley it. We can even try to predict it. We can also make plans to stay in front of it. But what if all this parleying, predicting, and planning was merely a distraction. What if our spiritual enemy wanted us to bite and devour each other. What if complexity, confusion, and chaos was his plan. And, on the other hand, what if God was driving us all back to one thing, and the only thing that makes sense.
Isn't it time to trust in Him with all our heart. Isn't it time to stop trusting in politics, policy, or the powers that be. Isn't it time to stop trusting in money, markets, and investment strategies. Isn't it time to stop trusting in messages presented on social, visual, or audio platforms. For when we trust in anything but God alone, are we not leaning on our own understanding?
DO THIS: Stop leaning on your understanding and start leaning on His.
PRAY THIS: God, silence the voices of complexity, confusion, and chaos in this world unless they drive mankind to you. And at the same time give my ears attention to truth in a world of deception and falsehood.
