When A Young Man Speaks Up
"Open your mouth, judge righteously, defend the rights of the poor and needy.” Proverbs 31:9
This week a 9-year-old boy, Dane Best of Severance, Colorado spoke up for his rights and the rights of other kids in his town. Severance for the last 100-years maintained an unusual city ordinance that outlawed the throwing of "spherical missiles," (a.k.a. - snowballs). Yep, the throwing of snowballs has been illegal for a century. But Dane had enough, and he spoke up and protested this absurd law claiming "he wanted to have a snowball fight like the rest of the world." In the end, he persuaded the authorities to change the ordinance and became the first kid to throw a snowball in the history of the town - legally that is. Good for you Dane. Thanks for "opening your mouth" as a man, and "judging righteously." I pray you will never forget this moment as you have not only spoken up for injustice, but you have instructed all men what it means to be a man today. And throw a snowball at your little brother for me because legally you can.
DO THIS: Speak up for righteousness today.
PRAYER: God, give me the courage of my youth to see past my concerns and make me passionate for righteousness.
