Who You Hanging With
Walk with the wise and become wise, for a companion of fools suffers harm. — Proverbs 13:20
Do not be misled: “Bad company corrupts good character.” — 1 Corinthians 15:33
These two verses represent a law often ignored. The people that surround us have an impact on our thoughts, attitudes, and actions. For example, if you spend time with a generous man, his generosity will inspire you to do the same. On the contrary, if you spend time with a greedy man, you too will be persuaded by his greed to be greedy. It is inevitable! We are influenced by those we spend time with.
This means we have to be attentive to how we spend our time and who we spend it with. This was true in my youth and is still true today.
So consider this: be intentional with the people you spend time with this week.
Spend time with people that inspire you to be a better man, husband, father, and leader. And then watch what happens. Take these people out for a coffee, buy them lunch, and then pick their brains in areas you need guidance and growth. Talk with them about something spiritual, and then consult the Scriptures with them. And then discover what it means to be wise by walking with the wise.
ASK THIS: Who is someone who has wisdom you need?
DO THIS: Spend time then and grow in wisdom. (Share below who this might be.)
PRAY THIS: God, remove bad company and foolish people from my life. Bring across my path wise Christians that I might be wiser.
PLAY THIS: God, I Look To You.
