When You Need A Word From The Lord
In the first year of Darius the son of Ahasuerus, by descent a Mede, who was made king over the realm of the Chaldeans — in the first year of his reign, I, Daniel, perceived in the books the number of years that, according to the word of the Lord to Jeremiah the prophet, must pass before the end of the desolations of Jerusalem, namely, seventy years. — Daniel 9:1-2
So when we finished chapter eight, we read that Daniel, who is about 90, is overwhelmed and sickened by his vision of the future. And I don't know what you do when you feel that way, but I know what I do. I'll fret and get anxious. I'll get irritated and complain. Sometimes I become detached from people and get quiet. Other times I'll seek comfort in a meal, movie, or a friend who will listen.
But Daniel does something worth noting. He goes to God's Word to get a word of hope. And it's ironic because he finds hope in a word given by God to another man who lived before his time. The prophet Jeremiah. In searching the words spoken by God to Jeremiah, he discovers that the 70 years he has lived in captivity were predicted to end. And because he turned to God's Word, he's found a word of hope.
If you are looking for hope today, maybe it's time to stop turning to things that don't provide hope. Binging on meals and movies might feel good for a moment, but they don't provide hope. But binging on God's Word might. That's because his word will always give you comfort and direction regardless of age or circumstance.
Listen to the words today that I believe Daniel stumbled over in his time of need. Jeremiah 29:10
"For thus says the Lord: When seventy years are completed for Babylon, I will visit you, and I will fulfill to you my promise and bring you back to this place."

My hope needs to be in God, for He is the only One that can save me(us) we cannot look to men, men will fail us, man is evil. We are living in evil times right now, we are are seeing evil that my naive mind never comprended
Great words of Wisdom today. So much trash going on around us today. Words of Truth in our Holy Bible clear things up in a hurry. Thanks so much Vince.
Brothers: “Do NOT let this book of the law depart from your mouth. Meditate on it day and night, SO THAT you may be careful to do everything written in it. THEN you will be prosperous and successful.”

This one hit me square between the eyes this morning, Pastor Vince. The chaos and destruction of all sorts surrounding us can be do overwhelming, and I often seek comfort in the empty things you named. Thank you for the rebuke and encouragement!
